"I have been a regular attender of Desarie's Yoga for Everybody classes for about a year, and the name really says everything. In this class, I have learned that yoga can be accessible to every person, regardless of fitness level or body shape. When I first began yoga, I was dealing with a lot of anxiety in my life. I did not have a regular fitness routine, and I had always considered my body to be inflexible and rigid. When I walked into the yoga studio, I was very nervous that I would not be able to keep up. Instead, Desarie encouraged me to begin right where I was. For the first few classes, I did all my yoga poses from a seated position in a chair. Gradually, I became more comfortable and confident moving along with the routine, from sitting, to kneeling, to standing. On days when I have felt stiffer or more tired, I know I have the flexibility to modify the routine for my needs. There is never any judgment about doing so, and Desarie encourages the usage of props whenever and however necessary. As an unexpected benefit, not only have I seen my fitness level improve, I have also experienced a regulating of some of my anxiety symptoms and a decrease in some of the digestive issues I've been struggling with. I have felt more confident in my life as I have made a regular practice of caring for my body, mind, and spirit. Overall, these classes and Desarie's leadership have been such a benefit to my life. "

"I started going to yoga with Desarie to build strength and balance. After just a few visits I was already starting to push my body further than I dared on my first class! I've always struggled with Downward dog and some of the harder poses and I've never been very athletic and now I find myself coming into poses thinking "what if you just try it and can?" It's been awesome to find so much physical confidence and to be working on myself. It's also a really nice time to just unplug from the world and get away from the racing thoughts."
-NICOLE W., YOGA PRACTITIONER

Hi, I'm Desarie Joy Evelo — the heart behind Radiant Joy Yoga. I'm a trauma-informed, accessible yoga instructor based in Nebraska, and I believe yoga is for every single body.
My classes are designed to meet you exactly where you are — whether you're brand new to yoga, managing a health condition, recovering from an injury, or simply looking for a place to breathe and be still.
I teach inclusive, breath-centered classes that blend gentle, functional movement with mindful awareness. My classes incorporate options using chairs, walls, and props, creating a supportive environment where students can move at their own pace. Students can expect a welcoming, steady-paced experience focused on presence, nervous system balance, and progress over perfection
My mission is simple: to create a space where you feel safe, seen, and celebrated — no flexibility required.
Do I need to register in advance?
Advance registration is required to reserve your spot and receive any important updates about class.
What is Trauma Informed Yoga?
Trauma-informed yoga is an approach to teaching yoga that recognizes many people have experienced stress, trauma, or difficult life events that can affect how they feel in their bodies. All of Desarie's classes are taught with this philosophy.
Rather than focusing on achieving perfect poses, trauma-informed yoga emphasizes choice, safety, body awareness, and personal agency. In these classes, you'll be invited to explore movement in a way that feels supportive for you, with options and modifications offered throughout the practice.
A trauma-informed class includes:
Clear, invitational language rather than commands
Opportunities to make choices about movement and participation
An emphasis on noticing sensations and connecting with your body
Respect for personal boundaries and individual experiences
A welcoming, non-judgmental environment
What is Accessible Yoga?
Accessible Yoga adapts traditional yoga practices to meet the needs of each individual. This may include using chairs, props, modified poses, or alternative ways of moving so that yoga can be experienced by more people.
What if I haven't exercised in years?
You're exactly the kind of person I love working with. Many students come to Radiant Joy Yoga after years away from movement, while managing health challenges, recovering from injury, or simply feeling disconnected from their bodies. You don't need to get in shape before starting. We'll start where you are and build confidence, strength, mobility, and ease one step at a time.
Is yoga really for all bodies?
Absolutely. Radiant Joy Yoga welcomes people of all ages, sizes, abilities, backgrounds, and experience levels. My goal is to create a space where everyone feels seen, supported, and included.
How do workshops differ from regular classes?
Workshops allow us to explore a specific topic in greater depth. They often include education, discussion, and practice focused on areas such as stress relief, balance, mobility, mindfulness, yoga foundations, or special populations.
What if I can't "keep up" with everyone else?
There's no "keeping up" in my classes. Yoga is a personal practice, not a performance. You'll always be encouraged to honor your own body and move at a pace that feels right for you.
What should I wear to class?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move, stretch, and breathe easily. Athletic wear, yoga clothes, leggings, sweatpants, shorts, and comfortable t-shirts all work well.
You don't need special yoga clothing or expensive gear. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and able to move freely.
Most classes are practiced barefoot to help with balance and stability, but if you prefer, you are welcome to wear grippy socks or supportive footwear that meets your needs.
How do I book a class?
It's easy! Click the 'Book Your Free Class' button at the top of this page or visit our Schedule page to see all upcoming classes and register. New students can also take advantage of our New Student 30 Day Pass for just $30.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask that you cancel at least 12 hours before class so your spot can be offered to someone on the waitlist. Late cancellations or no-shows may result in a class credit being used. If you have questions about a specific situation, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Do I need to be flexible to do yoga?
Absolutely not! Flexibility is something you build over time — you don't need it to start. Our classes are designed for real bodies at every level of flexibility. If you can breathe, you can do yoga.
Are your classes suitable for people with injuries or health conditions?
Our classes are trauma-informed, accessible, and inclusive by design. We offer modifications, options, and supportive instruction to help you practice safely and comfortably. Classes such as Yoga for Life: Chair Yoga and Yoga for Every Body are especially well-suited for those with limited mobility, chronic pain, injuries, or anyone looking for a more supportive approach to movement.
We encourage you to listen to your body, move at your own pace, and let your instructor know about any concerns before class so we can help create the best possible experience for you.
What should I bring to class?
For in-person classes, bring a water bottle and a yoga mat if you have one. We have mats and props available if you don't. For online classes, just find a quiet space with enough room to stretch out.
